 Topic: 7209 Memory upgrade & HDD Upgrade Posted: 10/02/07 at 10:42am |
|
Has anyone managed to upgrade the 7209 memory from 512Mb to 1Gb RAM, if so care to share where you got the memory from? or at least its spec? And I know its a 1.8" HDD, but what thickness? There are various sizes and I want to ensure I get the right size, before I take the thing apart!
Thanks In Advance

hi the max memory is 1gb as far as i know. not sure about the HDthickness. i think there is only one size and thickness.
if you were going to upgrade ,you may as well get the HD out and mesure it.
i am thinking doing the same thing, but not sure how to open this umpc.
just wondering if you have the manual or guide for opening this umpc etc.
hope it helps

I figured the Memory was 1Gb max, as per the i7210, so am looking for Mem cheaper than the $399 here! - Probably ebuyer or somewhere. As for HD - I'm seeing if I can source a 64Gb SSD drive instead of an HDD - at a reasonable price of course. If I find something I'll post here. Is yours a 7209 or an Advent U1a?

Hey Jack, I've just done two scans on my U1a, both show that its got 512Mb DDR2-400 installed, both show there are two DIMM slots and 1 is used. The Crucial Memory Checker says that max memory is 4Gb!
I think its screwdriver time over the weekend!
I'll let you know what I find
Cheers

Hi,
I've a Advent U1A too.
I wouldn't mind uping the memory too.
Any more news on a Upgrade guide, and what the RAM configuration actually is at the moment..?
Cheers, Shane :-)

Hi folks,
This weekend I managed to open up the Advent U1A.
There is only 1 slot, and I have just installed 2gb
All is working well
Cheers

Paul, well done, at least someone got off their backside (unlike me!) Do you have the spec of the 2gb you put in? Or even where you got it form / price
Cheers
